Refilling Instructions CANON BC-O1 & BC-02, BX-2 There are two different types of plugs on these cartridges. One type has a single indentation and the other type of plug has two indentations. You do not have direct access to the internal sponge so you must remove the plug to inject the ink.
Locate the VENT HOLE plug (as shown in the diagram) The plug may have 1 or 2 indentations. Enlarge one of the indentations with the push pin. Insert the eyelet screw (provided) into the hole you just created. Rotate the screw 3 or 4 times and pull out the plug. You are now ready to refill the cartridge. STEP 2 Place the cartridge on several layers of newspapers. Using the syringe draw 10 cc of ink from the plastic bottle. Insert the needle in the vent hole as far as possible. Slowly inject the ink. Pause occasionally and let the internal sponge soak up the ink. Repeat the process and inject another 10 cc of ink into the cartridge. Do not inject more than 15 cc of ink into the cartridge it may over flow from the vent hole. The ink cartridge may or may not take the full 15 cc depending on how empty the cartridge was and how many times it has been refilled. Replace the plug. Let the cartridge stand print head down, for 30 minutes before putting it back into the printer. This is to make sure that the cartridge does not leak and to allow the sponge to absorb the ink evenly. After several refills reduce the amount of ink you inject into the cartridge. ie: after the third refill only inject 12cc if you are having trouble with leaking through the print head. TROUBLE SHOOTING If the cartridge leaks at the vent hole it is OVERFILLED. Let it stand, vent down on your newspaper until it stops. If the cartridge prints in streaks or has a white line then one or more nozzles may be clogged. Soak just the print head in a solution of 50/50 water and bleach for about 10 minutes. After soaking, blow through the vent with your mouth to push some ink out the print head. Make sure you’ve got some paper towels under the print head to catch the ink that drips out. |
